Focus on Relationships More than Things

For me, the most significant reason to maintain an orderly home is family.  I want to give my best to those I love and have quality time as much as possible.

A home is ever changing.  Children are growing and learning, rooms are shifted to accommodate growth, items are used and reused with many members handling them.  All of these factors create an environment conducive of potential disorder.

All the misplaced items not only feel overwhelming, they also take time and energy that is better spent on people instead of things.  And this time adds up!!  Training requires a lot of effort on the parent’s part but provides great rewards for all.  Creating a healthy management system is great for daily living but also instills powerful life training skills for the children.

On another note, when life is crazy, which it often is, put the “messy” on a temporary hold and love on the children.  Have fun.  Build memories.  They grow so fast.  Once they are gone it will be much easier to clean and organize.  And then you may find yourself wishing the children were still around…mess and all!

Remember regardless of where you are…work, home, church, volunteering somewhere…the goal is always the same.  Be efficient and orderly so that more time and love can be given to the people in our lives instead of things.  This requires front- end organization but is totally worth it.  Why?  Because people are the most valuable assets in our lives and that includes YOU!
